How to draw Tails Poses

By NetRaptor

Here are some basic Tails poses. As in the Shadow tutorial, I will use stick figures to illustrate where the joints are and what they are doing.

Tails sitting. A person can sit in a variety of ways, but I like this one because it makes him look like a little kid. His legs are straight out in front of him, his tails are straight out in back, and no joints are showing but his hips and shoulders.
Tails hovering. This is a basic stick figure to demonstrate how foreshortening works. Tails' limbs, body and head are stacked up on each other.
Here is the finished sketch. You can't see much of Tails' body, and his head is tilted down. There are many ways to draw his spinning tails, but I usually draw them as a tall funnel with a wide, skinny donut at the top.
Similar pose, but from behind. You can see how Tails' tails attach to his behind. From this angle, his white belly shows a little, and you can see the bottoms of his shoes.
Tails sitting again, this time with his chin resting on his arm. The last time we drew him sitting he was leaning back--now he's leaning forward.
Tails running. He leans forward, pumps his arms, and holds his tails up when he runs. This is the same pose that I demonstrated in the Shadow pose section.
This is how Tails runs in the games. He just coasts along on his toes while his tails propel him forward. His holds his arms up and bent, and his forelock blows backwards in the wind. Look at the stick figure to see how his limbs are placed.
Tails the mechanic, selecting a wrench. Here he's crouching, not sitting, so his feet are positioned under him. His tails are off the ground and somewhat behind him. (Tails never lets them touch the ground, except when sitting.) Look at the stick figure. His body is facing left, while his head is facing right. It makes the drawing more interesting.

Now go draw some pictures of Tails!
