The Facts.

Chaos Emeralds.

The Chaos Emeralds come in a range of seven fantastic colours:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple and White.
The green emerald is the control emerald and is also the counterpart of the red, in that if they are kept apart the red will tend to become unstable and heat up, until such time that the green is brought back into close proximity of the red emerald.

The Eighth Chaos Emerald.

The Eighth Chaos Emerald contains all the evil ever caused by the other seven. The emerald is also more powerful than all the rest put together. When brought into contact with the other seven, it controls them perfectly, and the person wielding them becomes more powerful than anything the Super Emeralds can produce. On its own, however, the eighth chaos emerald may do anything to an individual carrying it; ranging from power-lust to madness to invincibility. Its powers are related to destruction and perversion, and with practice, one can see the locations of all other power stones.

Control Emeralds: Chaos, Super, and Master.

The Master emerald is green because it controls, focuses and channels the power of the Super and Chaos Emeralds. It acts as a switchbox between the emeralds, turning their power on or off when necessary, and has great innate power of its own. However, it is unusual for anyone other than an echidna to be able to activate the power of the Master Emerald.

The Green Chaos Emerald is the controller of the Seven, when the Master Emerald is inaccessible. This is the reason the Red Chaos Emerald tends to unbalance when the Green is not present.

The Green Super Emerald is the controller of the seven Super Emeralds.

The Eighth Chaos emerald is Green for this reason: its power is Control. However, it is older and stronger than the Master Emerald, and its powers were twisted when the Emeralds were corrupted. Thus it not only controls the other Emeralds, it also controls the user.

The Khadnyan Stones.

These ancient stones were created long ago by an ancient race of beings who once inhabited Mobius. There are nine stones each controlling an element or particular aspect of power.

Lightning: This stone grants the control of lighting to the user, and gives them a seemingly exhaustible supply of energy, so that they will never be tired, nor need to rest for much longer than a few hours at a time. The Stone is like a yellow lump of citrine in appearance.

Ice: A white stone similar to a giant pearl, this grants the control over ice and will protect the user from feeling great amounts of pain, as if the whole of their body has gone numb.

Water: Granting the power of watercraft to the user, this stone looks remarkably like some kind of blue sapphire. It also grants the ability of invisibility to the user, although this does require immense concentration to use. If the person's thoughts are clouded in any way then they will be visible by a shimmering swirl of vapour in the air.

Wind: Granting the power of flight via the ability to alter the effect of gravity upon the user and the power of wind craft to boot, this stone bears a resemblance to a pink rose quartz.

Fire: A blood red ruby in form, this is one of the most powerful elemental stones of the set. Allowing the control of fire craft, as well as making the user physically stronger, this stone is definitely prized highly by those who seek it.

Soul: A stone that grants psychic power to the wielder, it resembles an opal in appearance because the stone seems to be every colour at once. It also increases the natural intelligence of the wielder.

Light: The Stone of Healing, this enables the user to heal much faster from wounds and also allows them to heal other beings using its powers. Resembles a colourless diamond.

Shadow: The stone looks much like a black onyx, granting the ability to phase out of existence, and the obscure power of shadow craft. Also grants the power to teleport.

Earth: The last of the stones, bearing the likeness of a green emerald, this stone grants power of earth craft and increased defensive capabilities.

The stones have obvious opposites that can be successfully used to counteract the other:

Fire - Water

Lightning - Earth

Light - Shadow

The stones of Ice, Earth and Wind have no natural opposite.

Time Stones.

As ancient as time, the stones are rumoured to be the very focus and control points of time itself. The powers of the time stones are both linked and accumulative. With one stone and a lot of energy, it is possible to travel between the zones of time. This becomes generally easier and more accurate as the user gains more stones. However, the exception to this rule is the control time stone, which can be used to jump to whatever point in time is desired by the wielder. When the user has all of the other six time stones, this is also possible as well, although it is generally easier to obtain the control stone. The colours of the time stones are exactly the same as the colours of the emeralds, leading some people to conclude that they have some strange interlinked purpose with each other, although this has never been proven. Unknown to anyone, there are actually two control time stones exactly the same, although whatever happened to the other one is anybody's guess . . .

Power Rings.

Sonic’s Power Rings come from a generator made by his uncle that now lies in a pool in Knothole, every twelve hours or so, a ring is created by the device, which floats up to the top of the pool, hovering there for a few minutes before sinking back down into the lake to be reabsorbed. As the rings are configured to hedgehog dna, specifically Sonics, only he has been able to use the rings to increase his speed and strength for a short time, although they do have an interesting effect on roboticized Mobians and machines as well.

The "Super" State.

To become "Super", the Chaos Entity Ritual must be performed with the seven chaos emeralds, or just the eighth emerald on its own. While "Super", the wielder of the Emeralds will generally become stronger, faster, more powerful and resistant to many forms of pain and injury. However, being "Super" will not make you invincible, anyone fighting you as "Super" will lead to a cancellation of the emerald effects as such, and anyone with more power will be able to easily fend you off. Anyone charged by the Emeralds will be able to disrupt any electrical machinery by touching it, so they had better be careful what they touch.

The "Hyper" State.

While "Hyper", you are even faster, stronger and more impervious to attack than when you are "Super". Although you are still not invincible, as those with more power will still be able to beat you in, you will be hard-pressed to find such a foe under any normal circumstances. As with "Super", anyone fighting you as "Hyper" will effectively cancel out the effects of being "Hyper".
The user will still disrupt electrical equipment, but still at the same rate as which it was disrupted as when they were "Super". To become "Hyper", the Chaos Entity Ritual must still be performed but with the Super Emeralds instead of the Chaos, or by using the eighth with the Chaos.

I have created a handful of characters for my fan-fiction series.
